The Department of Energy & Environment’s (DOEE) Green Pathways' goal is to provide young adults, students, volunteers, and District residents with opportunities to learn, engage with, and work on the energy and environmental issues facing the District of Columbia and to help you consider a full-time career in the diverse issues DOEE works on every day.
The Green Zone Environmental Program (GZEP) is currently hiring supervisors and support staff for summer 2016. Every summer, GZEP partners with the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program to provide over 300 youth and young adults, ages 14-24, with an opportunity to learn about energy adn environmental issyes, compelte community-based environmental work projects such as rain gardens and storm drain markers, aand prepare for careers. Being a GZEP staff member is a great opportunity to work with District youth and gain valuable leadership experience. Learn more and apply to a GZEP staff position.
Green Pathways Internships are available across a variety of disciplines relating to green jobs and are posted on a rolling (as needed) basis by our divisions who need assistance with projects and administrative needs. Both paid and unpaid positions are available. Learn more and apply to a DOEE internship. In addition to positions currently seeking applicants, there is a listing for a “Rolling Internship Application,” where you can submit a generic application to be considered as new positions become available. If you are contacted regarding a position after submitting a rolling application, you may be required to apply to the specific position once it is posted.
Green Fellows are highly-competitive, paid opportunities for graduate students attending D.C. based higher education institutions. Every fall the Fellowship program solicits applications for four paid positions that are selected by early December. Fellows’ responsibilities include: research and policy; writing and editing; problem solving; complex projects; and end with a presentation to the Department Director and Senior Staff.
